Behind the Scenes[]
- Butterbur was portrayed by Richard Whiteside in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, who also appeared in An Unexpected Journey as an uncredited Erebor Dwarf Guard, the second film as a Laketown Guard and The Battle of the Five Armies as a Laketown Guard / Refugee.
- Due to his name credited in the end credits "Butterbur Snr.", he may have been the father of Barliman Butterbur, the innkeeper of the Prancing Pony in The Lord of the Rings.
- In the consoles and Windows versions of LEGO The Hobbit: The Video Game, Butterbur appeared as a playable character called as "Barliman Butterbur", but had black hair instead of brown, and did not have a beard. It was likely that he shared the same first and last names just like his son.
