Thrór was a noble Dwarf who was the King of Durin's Folk. He was first son of Dáin I and Heria, and elder brother of Frór and Grór. Married to Dís I, he was the father Thráin II, the grandfather of Thorin II Oakenshield, Frérin, and Dís II, the great-grandfather of Fíli and Kíli, and the great-great grandfather of Bís. He ruled under the kingdom of Erebor from TA 2690 to TA 2880, when the dragon Smaug took over and stole his kingdom. He tried to reclaim the lost Dwarven city of Moria, but as the Orcs got to the kingdom first, this led to a huge outside the eastern gate of Khazad-Dûm. Thrór fought bravely, but was killed and beheaded by Azog, which caused his son Thráin to be driven mad by grief and left the battle to be captured by the Necromancer in Dol Guldur.
